Sunny Jain Launches Remix Contest

By Spencer Grady

The jazz-jousting, bhangra boosting usurper of the great western cowboy myth, Sunny Jain, is inviting fans to create their own versions of cuts from his widely-acclaimed album, Wild Wild East

Jain is inviting interpretations of two tracks – 'Immigrant Warrior' and 'Red, Brown, Black' – both taken from his mighty genre-straddling long-player Wild Wild East (which will be reviewed in Songlines #157) for a new remix contest being launched today.

Sunny says: “This unprecedented time in history has made me appreciate the simple things in life. All we can do is strive to be humanly connected through whatever means possible as we are holed up in our homes. I would love for you to have fun with these stems, which contain effected dhol tracks, guitar soundscapes, drum grooves, fat sousaphone bass lines, snaking saxophone melodies and also some rap verses! Can’t wait to hear your remix!”

Fans are invited to send their versions back to Sunny and Smithsonian Folkways, who will share their favourite remixes after the deadline of April 20.
