opening with an excerpt from the new album by Natacha Atlas, 'Ana Hina', on World Village. Songlines editor, Simon Broughton, plays an extract from Neco Novellas's debut album 'New Dawn' on World Connection, there is a feature on the Mozambican artist and his family in this issue.
 
Nasim Masoud reports on the winners of the 2008 BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music announced at Dingwalls on 10th April, with music by Bassekou Kouyate (Out Here Records), Andy Palacio (Cumbancha), Sa Dingding (Wrasse), Son de la Frontera (World Village), Rachid Taha (Wrasse), Mayra Andrade (Sterns), Juldeh Camara & Justin Adams (Wayward Records), Transglobal Underground (Mule Satellite Recs), and the Very Best of Ethiopiques (on Union Square Music).
 
Jane Cornwell talks about Natacha Atlas, the cover star for this issue and
plays an excerpt of 'Beny Ou Benak Eih' from her new album, which is also
heard opening the podcast. Jon Mitchell discusses the new One Giant Leap
recording and TV series on Channel 4 and plays an excerpt from the album
'What about me?'. Nat Handy brings you the latest news with music by Dhafer Youssef (Enja), Cheikh Lo (World Circuit) and  Kimmo Pohjonen (Hoe Down).
 
The podcast ends with an extract by Bulgarian clarinettist Ivo Papasov from
his new album 'Dance of the Falcon' on World Village – our featured label
this issue.
