This podcast includes highlights from the September/October 2007 issue of Songlines (#46), opening with an excerpt from the new album by Manu Chao, 'La Radiolina', on Because Music. Thereπs also an excerpt from the opening track, åHeyweteπ from the 2CD album ≥The Very Best of Ethiopiquesπ on the Manteca label.
 
Other features on the podcast include: Nigel Williamson in conversation with Manu Chao; Songlines editor Simon Broughton looks at the extraordinary folk music department of the Sibelius Academy and how it has transformed the Finnish music scene, with music by the group Trepaanit from their album 'Halla'. Songlines news editor, Nat Handy, reports on the latest world music goings-on, with music by the Jaipur Kawa Brass Band, the Iranian fusionist Pouya Mahmoodi, Songlines world music chart toppers Rodrigo y Gabriella as well as an excerpt from Tiken Jah Fakoly recorded at the Africa Oye Festival in 2006 by The Africa Channel. Finally, Sue Wilson gives a Beginners Guide to the Scottish band Capercaillie playing a couple of tracks from their 'Live in Concert' album on the Survival label.
