The April/May 2009 issue of Songlines – on sale March 20 – features a free covermount CD packed full of the best new sounds from around the world. Tracks include new music from Germany’s fusionists 17 Hippies, Congolese street sensations Staff Benda Bilili, Zanzibar’s taarab orchestra Culture Music Club and a track from Jon Boden’s solo album, one half of Spiers & Boden.
On top of the 10 tracks from the 10 best new releases from around the globe, there’s also a selection of 5 Arctic-themed sounds from David Buckland, director of cultural climate awareness project Cape Farewell.
