The quartet is led by singer Ana Bacalhau and features a ukelelem cavaquinho, braguesa, classical guitar and double bass.Their debut album Cançao ao Lado, went platinum in Portugal and secure them a spot among the Songlines Music Awards 2010 winners. This month, they will be performing music from their latest release, Dois Selos e um Carimbo.
The group has recently made the news by giving voice to the frustration surrounding the Euro debt bubble. Their song, ‘Que Parva Que Eu Sou’ (What a Fool I Am) quickly became the European Baby Boomers’ anthem. The yells of approval during this performance only confirm the group’s ability to relate to the problems that plague more than one million young people in Portugal.
