Songlines Encounters Festival – Saturday June 9

Posted on May 29th, 2012 in Recent posts by .

To close the four-day event, the final day of  Songlines Encounters Festival focuses on  jazz.

The Yiddish Twist Orchestra, an all-star band under the guidance of trumpeter Lemez Lovas (Oi Va Voi, Shtetl Superstars) and twistneck guitarist Ben Mandelson (3 Mustaphas 3, Triaboliques) pays homage to the genius and paranoia of Willy Bergman, the anonymous beatnik funkateer who got the slums – and salons – on both sides of the water dancing to that pounding Yiddish beat. The Yiddish Twist Orchestra is delighted to present guest singer Sam Lee for their performance at the Songlines Encounters Festival.

In Hall Two, we feature Lauren Kinsella’s Thought-Fox, a spectacular young jazz group from Ireland in a special collaboration with Moroccan oud player Soufian Saihi.

You can book your tickets by visiting the Kings Place website or by calling +44 (0)20 7520 1490.

We hope to see you there!
