Next month, the Southbank Centre will play host to Africa Utopia, a month-long festival of music, theatre, film, literature, dance, fashion, talks and debates. Held between July 1-28, the festival is in conjunction with renowned Senegalese singer and human-rights activist Baaba Maal and is part of the Southbank Centre’s Festival of the World.
Throughout the festival there are performances by iconic musicians who, like Baaba Maal, believe in the power of music for social change. The line-up will include performances from Max Baillie & Sura Susso, Gregg Kofi Brown, The Ultimate Afrobeats Utopia, Muntu Valdo, Africa Yard Sound System, Vocal Ensemble of Africa, Funmi Olawumi, Doe Driscoll & Sekou Kouyate and the hip-hop dance troop Catalyst Rwanda.
