The weekend is quickly approaching and we are almost ready for Larmer Tree. While packing our wellies and sunglasses (we’re optimists), we started talking about some of the acts at this year’s festival that we are really looking forward to seeing.
With a line-up as good as this, the our list easily goes on and on, but here are just a few of the artists we’re excited about seeing this weekend.
Dub Pistols performing Friday
Their danceable fusion of dub and big beat is exactly what a festival needs.
The Regular Joes performing Friday
Who doesn’t love a good jump-jive and swing band? No, seriously. Who?
Punch Brothers performing on Saturday
The hip, young boys of bluegrass bring their progressive plucking to Larmer Tree.
Amadou & Mariam performing Saturday
The husband and wife duo recently rocked London’s Back2Black Festival and are sure to deliver at Larmer Tree. You can read our Beginner’s Guide to Amadou & Mariam in our June issue (#84).
Caravan Palace performing Saturday
The Paris-based electro swing band will be promoting their new album Panic, so bring your dancing wellies.
Fatoumata Diawara performing Saturday
As the winner of the 2012 Songlines Music Award for Newcomer, we are really looking forward to seeing her again. Perhaps she’ll consider doing a duet with last year’s Newcomer Award Winner….
Raghu Dixit performing on Sunday
…. Raghu Dixit. The singer from Bangalore and his band are always great fun and shouldn’t be missed.
Trio Tekke performing Sunday
Nominated for the Newcomer award in this year’s Songlines Music Awards, the Cypriot ex-pats play traditional rebetika with a contemporary twist.
