This weekend sees the start of Midem – an international music event held annually in Cannes, France – which welcomes record labels, publishers, established artists and independent bands. There will be workshops, conferences and a wide variety of live music events. This year Midem will be home to 1,500 exhibiting companies, 80 gigs and 600 artists.
All musical styles will be represented during the live music events, which are separated into various venues and genres. Internationally acclaimed British band Madness are headlining the ‘Midem Festival’ – held in the central venue Palais des Festivals – which will also include British band Archive, French model, actress and singer Lou Doillon and Israeli singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan. Whilst in five different bars and clubs around Cannes, ‘Midem Off’ hosts Canadian folk singers Ann Vriend and Kinnie Starr and Senegalese band African Dinkelou.
