Laylum (which means ‘chorus’) is a combination of old classics and new material. An accompanying tour will begin on January 24 at The David Hall, South Petherton and finish in at the Birmingham Conservatoire on February 10.
Eliza Carthy has toured on and off since the age of 14, collaborating with Jools Holland, Patrick Wolf, Nick Cave and Paul Weller, and has won a multitude of accolades, including more than five BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Her 21-year career will be celebrated in a ‘Best Of’ album – Wayward Daughter – released later this year.
Speaking Laylum Eliza commented, ‘we had such a good time that we thought we would make this album as an excuse to hang out some more. We played everything live in a room, with only a few fancy bits added later by Oliver Knight… and now we’re going out on tour too.’
Since releasing her debut solo album in 2007, Bella Hardy has won major critical acclaim, numerous award nominations and was the winner of the BBC 2 Best Original Song 2012 for ‘The Herring Girl.’ Eliza and Bella are joined by Lucy Farrell and Scotland’s Kate Young.
