‘A truly multicultural festival’ – The Guardian

Marking the tenth year since the US- and UK-led invasion of Iraq, the Reel Iraq festival is a celebration of contemporary Iraqi arts and culture.

Over the weekend of March 21-24, eight UK cities including London, Edinburgh, Bristol and Leeds, will welcome a multicultural influx of musicians, artists, directors and writers. Now in it’s fourth year, the festival seeks to explore the impact and importance of arts and culture to a country during conflict.

This year, the Reel Iraq festival’s fifth year is set to be the biggest yet with over 50 events on offer including live music, film screenings, art exhibitions and poetry readings. The experimental jazz trio City of Salt will be performing tracks off their soon to be released album Towers Open Fire. Joining them at London’s Richmix will be Iraqi composer and oud player Khyam Allami.
