Albuquerque duo return with new album and video
A Hawk and A Hacksaw released with their new album You Have Already Gone to the Other World on Monday, April 2. Consisting of ex-Neutral Milk Hotel drummer Jeremy Barnes and violinist Heather Trost, the duo have become renowned for their Balkan and Turkish influenced compositions.
In 2012, the pair scored a live soundtrack to the 1964 film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors by the Ukranian director Sergei Parajanov. They took the soundtrack on tour, accompanying the film live, and performed in cinemas and theatres. You Have Already Gone to the Other World is the product of those tours. The video for the track ‘Nyisd Ki Rózsám’ can be watched below.
You Have Already Gone to the Other World is reviewed in the next issue of Songlines (June 2013 #92, on sale April 26) .
