Don’t miss the world’s best Afro-beat-Cuban-Bangladeshi group play London’s Floridita
Lokkhi Terra, one of London’s best kept secrets, is a music project created by UK/Bangladeshi musician Kishon Khan – combining Bangladeshi music traditions with those from Africa and Latin America and creating a sound that can truly be called ‘world music.’
The band line-up boasts a team full of musicians renowned for their authentic playing of different world traditions. Alongside Kishon Khan (Hugh Masekela, Gilles Peterson’s Havana Cultura) the ensemble features the British Asian percussionist Pandit Dinesh, Bellowhead’s Justin Thurgur, Graeme Flowers (Kyle Eastwood), Cuban maestro percussionist Oreste Noda (Ska Cubano) on congas and fellow Cuban, bassist Jimmy Martinez (Asere) alongside Phil Dawson (Hugh Masekela, Tony Allen) and Turkish drummer Tansay Omar (Bjork).
Lokkhi Terra are also performing at the Songlines Encounters Festival on June 8 at London’s Kings Place. Click here for tickets.
