We are happy to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Spafax who have the exclusive contract for supplying music content for British Airways’ long-haul audio in-flight entertainment channels. From March 1 our regular My World playlists and Top of the World compilations will be available on select BA flights.
Sir Mick Jagger’s playlist, published last June (#93) to coincide with Glastonbury, kicks off the promotion featuring tracks by Salif Keita and Fela Kuti. Rufus Wainwright’s playlist follows in April with a selection of Top of the World tracks, including Angélique Kidjo, The Gloaming and Mostar Sevdah Reunion.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our industry” says Songlines’ publisher Paul Geoghegan. “With British Airways carrying 13 million long-haul passengers globally every year, this will be invaluable exposure for featured artists and labels and at a time when radio airplay for our sector is falling.” It’s also a chance for passengers to hear good music with a global reach. “With Songlines regularly covering music from all of BA’s global destinations, this is a natural collaboration to highlight the synergies between music and travel and coincides with the publication of our 100th edition in April.”
Richard D’Cruze, British Airways’ in-flight entertainment manager, adds “the partnership with Songlines enables us to tap into their vast and credible expertise to deliver a great experience for our customers.”
