Academy award-winning director Alex Gibney will bring his critically acclaimed Fela Kuti documentary, Finding Fela, to cinema screens in London this April as part of the annual Sundance London Film and Music Festival.
The festival, now in its third year, will take place at Greenwich’s O2 Arena and will showcase an array of exciting independent films, documentaries and live music from April 25-27. Gibney’s documentary profiles the life and career of Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer and fiery political activist, Fela Kuti, and sheds new light on the cultural and political significance of Fela’s music and legacy. With a treasure chest of unseen footage, interviews and hypnotic live performances, the film is sure to excite fans.
To coincide with the release of Finding Fela, Sundance London will also host a free performance by Dele Sosimi, one of the original members of Fela Kuti’s band Egypt 80, from 8pm on Sunday April 27 at the O2’s Brooklyn Bowl venue.
Screenings take place from April 25 and tickets can be bought here from Friday March 28.
