Cross-cultural musical collective Salt Petal are the winners of the latest World Music Network Battle of the Bands with ‘Por La Luna’ from their debut album Sea Monster.
Salt Petal were formed in 2009 by singer Autumn Harrison and Argentinian guitarist Rodrigo Gonzalez, who began experimenting with their music and crafted songs in the local cafes of Los Angeles. Their music was well received and propelled them to expand the band into a five-piece. They quickly gained a local fan base and began playing festivals such as SXSW. The band’s winning track, ‘Por La Luna’, does well to showcase their various influences, including South American music and indie pop.
From a shortlist taken from world music fans’ most popular artists, Salt Petal! were awarded the top spot by a panel of judges, with Cirkusz-KA as runners-up.
