Everyone’s favourite Romani band celebrate 25 years with a new album and European tour, including several UK dates.
To celebrate their 25th anniversary, Taraf de Haidouks are releasing a new album, Of Lovers, Gamblers and Parachute Skirts, this January. The album will revisit some of the old styles from their previous albums, including Gypsy love songs, Romanian ballads, dance tunes and Turkish-flavoured instrumentals.
Hailing from Clejani, Romania, Taraf de Haidouks have been the kings of Romani Gypsy music since their debut album and first tour in 1991. Their music and line-up have organically changed over the years and Of Lovers, Gamblers and Parachute Skirts stitches it all back together for a retrospective celebration.
In addition to a new album, Taraf de Haidouks will also be embarking on a short European tour to continue the celebrations well into the year. The tour will include the following UK dates:
January 24 – Old Fruitmarket, Celtic Connections, Glasgow
February 16 – Union Chapel, London
May 17 – Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Norwich
