The Gloaming’s new album will be released on February 26 2016
After a successful year of touring, the half-American, half-Irish supergroup The Gloaming are to begin work on their second album when they visit Real World Studios in Wiltshire next month. Made up of fiddle player Martin Hayes, guitarist Dennis Cahill, sean-nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird, Hardanger fiddle player Caoimhin Ó Raghallaigh and pianist Thomas Bartlett, The Gloaming released their self-titled debut in 2014 (reviewed in #98) to much acclaim for their reinterpretation of Irish tradition music. Their sophomore, as-yet-untitled effort is widely tipped to have a chart-topping debut in Ireland.
The album will be available in CD and vinyl format, and is available to pre-order via Real World Records, the group’s official record label. Next year will also see them on tour in the UK, with dates in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and other cities in late September.
