Here at Songlines HQ we’re always on the lookout for the most exciting music from around the world. Check out our playlist of the latest tracks that we’ve been listening to.

Shye Ben Tzur – ‘Dawn’
A track that predates his Junun work by a couple of years. Its video is a great watch with a particularly humorous introduction.

Blick Bassy – ‘Wap do Wap’
‘Wap do Wap’ is the third track on Cameroon singer-songwriter Blick Bassy’s newest album Akö (reviewed in #110). Short and sweet, it is a delightful tune backed by delicate horns and hushed vocals.

Slow Moving Clouds – ‘Devil’s Polska’
A track from the debut album by the Irish/Finnish collaboration, Slow Moving Clouds. The trio of cello, fiddle and nyckelharpa perform lush, atmospheric melodies – slow moving indeed! This track not quite so lethargic, but just as heavy and dark. Read a review of the album in next issue (#115, on sale January 29).

Ata Kak – ‘Daa Nyinaa’
The Ghanaian highlife/electronic icon kickstarted the popularity of Awesome Tapes from Africa, the cassette-digging brainchild of Brian Shimkovitz. Ata Kak will embark on his first-ever European tour this summer, which will include Field Day festival.

Seu Jorge – ‘Tive Razão’
The opening track from Brazilian musician Seu Jorge’s 2005 album Cru, ‘Tive Razão’ is a smooth acoustic romantic ballad with stripped down production and mellow melodies.
