Sam Lee, Eliza Carthy, Show of Hands and Lynched among list of nominees

The nominees for this year’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards have been announced by Mark Radcliffe on The Folk Show this evening, in what has been touted as one of the strongest lists since the awards began. Experimental Irish four-piece Lynched have been nominated for three awards, whilst singer and avid song collector Sam Lee and newcomers Stick in the Wheel have two apiece.

The winners will be announced at the Folk Awards ceremony, which returns to the Royal Albert Hall on April 27 and will be hosted by Radcliffe and Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis. Tickets can be purchased here.
