Continuing the Latin wave
Posted on December 14th, 2011 in Songlines Blog by Songlines Intern.
We hope you’ve been enjoying the Latin vibe in your latest copy of Songlines. If this issue has got your Latin juices flowing, then head over to www.soundsandcolours.com, the magazine devoted to the music and culture of South America. Their interesting travel features might tempt you to plan your next holiday, in which case, make sure you check out our Music Travel plans for 2012. www.songlines.co.uk/music-travel
South American carnival season will be hot off the trail of the new year’s dawn. Sounds and Colours profile several of the continent’s most renowned carnivals as well as well as accessing that hard-to-find underground music scene, creating regular mix tapes and producing news and reviews.
Their latest mix tape, ‘El Buho’s Fraternity Winter’, features our Beginner’s Guide artist, the legendary Argentinian singer Mercedes Sosa, juxtaposed with electronic material as never before. It’s well worth a listen and I’m sure will divide opinion.
