Arranged marriages at Calgary Folk Festival
Posted on July 20th, 2010 in News by Songlines.
The 31st Calgary Folk Festival in Canada takes place July 22-25 in Prince’s Park, Calgary and the festival likes to put together ‘arranged marriages’ between musicians who have never worked with each other and cross genre boundaries.
This year’s festival sees meetings between Kinshasa’s Konono No. 1 and southern blues-rockers Hill Country Revue, Scotland’s Peatbog Faeries and UK folk-punk singer-songwriter Frank Turner and UK-Arabic singer Natacha Atlas and reggae star Finley Quaye.
