The Sambasunda Quintet from Indonesia are releasing their latest album Java this month and will be celebrating with a UK tour in February.

While their latest venture sees the ensemble slim down to a quintet, the original 18 member group made their way into our top 75 albums in our 75th issue. Java – which was a commissioned project for a chamber ensemble of founding members Ismet Ruchimat, Yadi Cahyadi, Asep Yana, Budi Sofyan and new singer Neng Dini Andriati – is a fresh and original take on the classical Sundanese tradition.
