Tinariwen + José González at Shepherd’s Bush Empire

Posted on December 3rd, 2011 in Songlines Blog by .

Touareg rockers Tinariwen will be returning to London after a jam-packed performance in October. They will be performing on May 3 at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire with indie/folk singer-songwriter José González.

It will be a fantastic night of music if their October gig at KOKO is anything to go by – so be sure to get yourself there even if you have to beg, borrow or steal a ticket.

Tinariwen are known for their hypnotic desert blues and have recently released the album Tassili, which includes guests Kip Malone and Tunde Adebimpe from the band TV on the Radio and has proved to be a smash hit.

González, whose family fled Argentina for Sweden after Junta came into power, beautifully utilises a hybrid of both worlds and will be a perfect balance to Tinariwen’s mesmerising blues.

Concert goers who choose to buy a subscription to Songlines alongside their ticket will receive a free copy of Tinariwen’s Tassili. Tickets and our special offer are available through Ticketweb.
