Field Day festival marks its tenth anniversary this June at London’s Victoria Park

One of the first musical events to look out for as the British festival season slowly approaches, Field Day has built a reputation for showcasing a host of great acts from home and around the world, most of whom rarely get the chance to play in the UK. On the year of its tenth anniversary, the festival will be held in London’s Victoria Park with its strongest lineup yet.

Saturday sees Senegalese Afro-Cuban group Orchestre Baobab, one of the dominant and iconic African bands of the 70s, Scottish folk trio Yorkston Thorne Khan, Ghanaian highlife artist Ata Kak whose work was brought to the public eye by Awesome Tapes from Africa, and Thai fusion group and former Top of the World selection Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band. Critically acclaimed Congolese band Mbongwana Star will be playing the following day. James Blake was recently announced as the headline act.

Mulatu Astatke, Thomas Mapfumo and Ginger Baker all set to play London festival

The British festival season is rapidly creeping up on us, and Field Day in London’s Victoria Park is one of the first to look out for. Taking place on Saturday May 25, the one day event has built up a reputation over recent years for collating a whole host of rising and established music acts from both home and abroad.

This year is arguably the strongest yet, with Ethio-jazz legend Mulatu Astatke and the founder of Zimbabwean chimurenga Thomas Mapfumo joining Animal Collective, Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion, Charanjit Singh, Everything Everything and Kurt Vile.

We are excited to have a pair of tickets to give away for the festival. Click here to enter. Winners will be announced on May 13.
