A live performance by folk supergroup Spell Songs is to be screened online early next month.

Filmed in January 2022 during their winter tour at Birmingham Symphony Hall, one of the UK’s most prestigious concert venues, the show will air on Saturday April 9 and feature the Karine Polwart, Julie Fowlis, Seckou Keita, Kris Drever, Rachel Newton, Beth Porter, Jim Molyneux and Jackie Morris. 

Incorporating music from both their eponymous first album (2019) and Spell Songs II: Let the Light In (2021), alongside Jackie Morris painting live on stage, this concert will open with a pre-show bonus talk featuring authors Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris in conversation with eco-author Nicola Davis to give a deeper insight into ‘The Lost Words movement’ and how Spell Songs came into being.
