What started as a small pub event hosted by the band Dead Pages in 2022 has grown into a festival that now draws close to 1,000 attendees. Chaney, whose interpretation of the song ‘Dark Eyed Sailor’ was featured in Emerald Fennell’s recent cinematic adaptation of Wuthering Heights, tops this event. “As a burgeoning grassroots festival that champions folk music and culture, it is vital that we support independent events like this,” say Chaney.

Other headliners include acclaimed folk singer-songwriter and guitarist Jon Wilks, high-energy country-folk group Alan Power & The Take Twos, lo-fi folk artist Natalie Wildgoose and travelling trad-folk rock band, Les Caravanes.

Additional artists include Irish folk duo The Ocelots, Scottish clàrsach player Anna McLuckie, Appalachian folk revivalists The Pegwells and folk-soul singer Ella Clayton.

Alongside its musical programme, the festival aims to highlight the wider culture of folk tradition, through features such as The Garden Stage, food vendors, an ancient crafts market and a tent for activities. The activities include workshops in mosaic making, basket weaving, pottery and corn dollying.

The event reflects a resurgence of interest in folk music among younger audiences. Festival Director and co-organiser Sam Guinness said: “I can't believe the talent we've managed to attract to our growing festival. It feels like people are starting to take notice of what we're creating.”
