The Folk on Foot Festival returns for a third edition

By Jo Frost

The award-winning team behind the Folk on Foot podcast are back with the third edition of their hugely popular Front Room Festival.

Following the success of the first two editions of the Front Room Festival, Folk on Foot Festival 3: Together Again will be broadcast from 2pm (BST) on Bank Holiday Monday August 31 and, once again, boasts an impressive line-up of 40 top-class folk musicians.

In contrast to the previous two editions, which saw musicians performing at home, this edition will see many of the artists getting out of their front rooms and playing outside, some playing with bandmates for the first time since lockdown.

Among the list of artists on the line-up are Eliza Carthy who will be playing with Saul Rose and David Delarre; Julie Fowlis, Éamon Doorley and Duncan Chisholm; Karine Polwart, Steven Polwart and Inge Thomson; Peggy Seeger with her sons Neill and Calum MacColl; Rachel Newton and Lauren MacColl; Sam Lee and his band and the duo John Spiers and Jon Boden.

The show will be co-presented by Folk on Foot’s Matthew Bannister and musician Nancy Kerr, who will be joined by fellow musicians Martin Simpson and Andy Cutting as the ‘house band’.

The previous two festivals raised an impressive £190,000 with half of the proceeds going to the musicians taking part and the rest to the charity Help Musicians.
