Soweto-based four-piece Urban Village go skin deep, celebrating the launch of their debut long-player, Udondolo, with Justice Mukheli's powerful video for 'Dindi', an emphatic rallying cry extolling black pride in the face of prejudice.

Speaking about 'Dindi', the band say: "Dark-Dindi was a colloquial term, which describes people who are dark skinned... It was a necessary term used as an awakening for people being raised and brought up under a certain oppression, where all the dark-skinned people, especially young women, would have attempted to bleach their skin and whiten their pigment in order to be accepted as beautiful. The song urges people of all colours to be proud of the very skin that they are in, no matter the shade and texture."

'Dindi' appears on the Top of the World CD included with the March 2021 issue of Songlines (out January 29).
