WOMAD 2023 Artists Announced
Everyone’s favourite world music field trip is back for another round this summer, as the first artists are announced for WOMAD 2023
Mariza, one of the big names announced for WOMAD 2023
Charlton Park will once more echo with the sound of African polyrhythms, soaring Asiatic strings, eclectic jazz fusions and some of the finest folk from around the world. Among the headliners announced for this year's tantalising bill are Femi Kuti & the Positive Force, Mariza, Bombay Bicycle Club, Kate Rusby, Horace Andy and The Comet Is Coming.
These major-hitters join a barn-storming programme for a glorious sonic buffet between July 27-30, brimming with oodles of whoop-ass music from all corners of the world, with scheduled appearances from Rokia Koné, Souad Massi, Susana Baca, Asmâa Hamzaoui & Bnat Timbouktou, Soumik Datta, Snapped Ankles, Cha Wa, Nihiloxica and Theon Cross, among the other musical delights (see below for all the names so far).
Alongside this spectacular sonic fare, WOMAD 2023 promises a wealth of extra-curricular attractions, plus the usual mix of workshops, talks and plenty of child-friendly activities.
