Last year's London MELA audience

Southall Park will be taken over by Asian arts and food this coming weekend with the arrival of the ZEE London Mela. The main event on Saturday is set to be the specially commissioned Sounds of Southall, produced by composer and musician Kuljit Bhamra MBE, one of the pioneers of the British bhangra scene and featuring an exciting line-up of acclaimed bhangra artists. Sunday's highlights include Panjabi Hit Squad, a collective of British Asian DJs and producers, Ivor Novello Award winner Apache Indian and, coming home to Southall all the way from LA, Jay Sean.

Other acts to watch out for are BHANG, featuring Dhol Academy and Walk the Plank who will be collaborating with London's premiere sambistas Rhythms of the City and bringing proceedings to a thrilling close on Sunday.

If the star-studded musicial line-up doesn't seal the deal, the Taste of Asia food market is sure to tickle your tastebuds. For audience participation enthusiasts, Mela's Got Talent and a series of dance classes provide a chance to steal the limelight. Film screenings, including the BBC's Pump Up The Bhangra provide a chance to chill out among all the festivities.

The ZEE London Mela will take place in Southall Park on Saturday August 18 from 1pm-8pm and Sunday August 19 from 1pm-9pm. Free entry. Find out more here
