Fancy a Parisian afternoon, but can’t afford the trip? Never mind! Relax on your couch and close your eyes; Daniel Colin’s latest CD might be your perfect soundtrack. After ten years without releasing any recordings, L’anniversaire is out in time to celebrate his 80th birthday. And the accordion master – one of the best in France – has kept all his youthful and sensitive lightness of playing, and his distinctive fingering that flies over the keyboard.

This recording could be considered a classic of the genre. We appreciate the choice of repertoire, most of it being traditionally associated with the chromatic accordion: sometimes Gypsy jazz flavours, sometimes tango aromas, very often musette musicality, but also featuring iconic songs from French composers Gainsbourg and Trenet. With this album Colin simply wanted to record his favourite tracks with his musicians to celebrate his 75 years of playing, and the result is a very nice tribute to his life-long partner: the accordion.
