Forget the lockdown postman and shanty TikTok craze, haul away and pass round the grog, open your gullet and get ready to join the original buoy band, Port Isaac’s finest, live from The Platt (more or less) as they release this latest LP, on the back of their second film, One and All, with guest vocal turns from Imelda May.
Coming on top of their second movie, numerous albums, a book or two and a new musical, it’s a fun, boisterous set to sing along to. The raw spirit that fuels the myth of the FF is their Friday night a cappella performances at The Platt in the Cornish village of Port Isaac. They started out here, local workmen and fisherman getting together for a bit of fun, and they will return there, however far down the road of stardom, showbiz and national acclaim they come. One and All is a fun set, with some old shanty and drinking faves joining forces with picks from the pop canon – ‘Sloop John B’, and ‘Hi Ho Silver Lining’ among them, the latter a single featuring Imelda May’s vocals. It’s rousing fun that’s easy to join in with.
