Brazilian producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Felipe Puperi delivers sonic gold on his third album as Tagua Tagua. Released via Brooklyn’s Wonderwheel Recordings, this nine-track journey blends psychedelia, tropicália, neo-soul and dancefloor rhythms into an irresistibly accessible and radio-friendly package – effortlessly joyful music which is guaranteed to brighten your days, with each song clocking in at under three-and-a-half minutes. Born from a stripped-down jam session on the road, the blissed-out, discofied ‘Let It Go’ is one of several head-nodding delights. Tagua Tagua crafted this musical mosaic almost entirely solo in his São Paulo apartment – writing, performing, recording and producing – with the impressively multilayered ‘Lado a Lado’ marking the album’s sole collaboration, with US rock outfit White Denim. Other highlights include ‘Talvez’, which rides an addictive, syncopated synth groove, while ‘Rito de Passegem’ serves up a backbeat which would have had drumming legend Clyde Stubblefield nodding in approval.
