Luisa Maita debuted last year with the delicious Lero Lero, an album which this publication described as ‘dreamy an d sumptuously soothing, without being superficial’ (reviewed in #70). This EP’s meagre half hour features seven remixes of four songs from the album, re-worked by DJs Tudo, Maga Bo, Popular Beat Combo, DJ/rupture, Tejo, Seiji and Da Lata. None of them are a patch on the original. None of the DJs appear to have spent much more time on each track than it takes to insert the CD into the computer, and the whole venture is perplexingly pointless.
This remix project fails to do justice to Maita’s original, does not offer anything new, and seems to have been released to coincide with a forthcoming tour restricted to the US.
