Described as a ‘sister companion release’ to last year's The Devil Makes Three, four of the seven tracks on this mini-album are remixes of songs from that album. Of the three new tracks, the opening two, ‘Shell Story’ and ‘Face to Face’ are written and arranged by the duo of Catriona Price (fiddle and vocals) and Esther Swift (harp and vocals). Both make fine additions to their confident and enticing work on the album, along with their own ethereal, and rather lovely, version of Schubert's ‘Romanze’. The remixes of ‘The Devil Makes Three’, by Glasgow-based Fraction Man, ‘Magic Circles’ by Brazilian star DJ Tudo and ‘Noise Show’ by Edinburgh-based sound designer The Reverse Engineer are mostly meandering and less than essential. However, BBC Radio 3's Late Junction presenter Max Reinhardt takes on ‘Me and My Friend’ and imparts a fair share of diverting moments.
